Once upon a time SEO was easy.
build a site,
write some tags,
submit it to the search engines,
sit back and wait for loads of free traffic.
These days life is much harder. Nowadays we have to go much further and build loads of links to our sites; but even this is not always sufficent. All the search engines know about link farms and discount them almost totally and even the best article directories are not the as strong as they used to be only a few months ago.

The coders and marketers at PortalFeeder know all about this. ;)
Recently they have announced a new product called CommentKahuna and it is free!
Comment Kahuna was devidsed to help webmasters and marketers build back links that would both stand the test of time and yet still have a rapid payback.

When I started out building backlinks it did not take me much time to find out that using blogs was a really good way to go. Usually search engines find blogs and new posts fast and so I could get my newest pages and brand new sites indexed really quickly, so I started looking for blogs and posting comments because they gave me the links and traffic I needed as fast as my impatient inner man wanted. This was good but something was missing…

The problem I faced was that it took a long time to go through the process of searching for blogs, finding the comments, posting a relevant comment, rinsing and repeating.
I was thinking there must be a faster, more efficient, way to post blog comments to high Page Rank blogs. It turned out that I was right, there is a better way and it is ideal for folks who are using blogs or ‘ordinary’ websites. In fact this tool is great for any kind of site you may own.

CommentKahuna.

How you can now build backlinks to your sites.
1) Research a search term, enter it into Comment Kahuna, input a username, your email and the URL of the site to which you want to link. Press the button and the magic begins! You can also choose what types of blogs to go for: Most popular blogging platforms are covered – WordPress, TypePad, MoveableType etc etc, a great way to increase the number of blogs to post to as compared to some software that searches only for WordPress or Blogger blogs.

2) CommentKahuna searches out blogs with specific posts matching your keywords, it creates a list displaying the PageRank (PR) of each of the posts that have been found.

3) You can filter the low PR posts and go only for high PR blogs.

4) Now all you have left to do is scan the blog post, and write a relevant comment, paste in your site info, press submit in the browser window and move to the next blog. Easy eh?

Comment Kahuna picks up a maximum of 50 blogs at each search run, probably 10 comments per keyword run is enough. I think this is likely connected to to a strong wish to avoid Comment Kahuna being used as a spam tool.

I only ever post to a blog where I am confident that I can add to the discussion in a positive way and I am finding that back links from blogs are helping me to get spidered and indexed much faster than before. Used alongside Social Bookmarking one can have a powerful set of tools that make what was a tedious and painful chore almost a pleasure. The only serious drawback is that I get distracted by reading interesting posts rather than getting on with my work!

Anyway, for your backlink building pleasure just download FREE Comment Kahuna and get building.

EDIT and Update!
CommentKahuna V2.0 has now been released. The main change is that now CommentKahuna can identify blogs that do not use NoFollow tags on their comments sections. This is very good – now it means that as well as driving on-theme traffic to your sites you can also be sure that the link is carrying PageRank and thus enhancing your page’s authority. It also means that Google’s spiders can now use links to enter your new pages helping even more with indexing.

Article Feeder

The Article Feeder is an article exchange system, where you set your site up to host articles from others, then submit articles into the system. As you host articles from others, your articles are distributed to other’s sites in the system, not in a reciprocol fashion, but rather in a round robin method. For example, if you host an article from site A, and site A hosts an article from site B, then site B may host an article from your site. By using this method, there are never any sites with articles linking to each other.

Traffic Kahuna is a brand new offering from the guys who bought us PortalFeeder and DealDotCom. Their goal is to share some of the best traffic generation and page indexing tools around – what is often referred to as ‘off page search engine optimization’. There are three main tools in the armoury:

Firstly a link exchange system, but a system with a difference, instead of being reciprocal links the system allows for n-way links, wherein sites link to each other but not in apparently ordered manner, instead site A may link to site B, Site B to site C and site C to site A. When the sites are on different hosts and with different IP addresses it becomes an under the radar linking technique that gets better the more people use it.

Secondly comes the Traffic Kahuna Article exchange system. This time, instead of links being traded articles are traded, of course the articles carry links but because the exchange is of decent quality content  as well as the basic linking there is an opportunity to trade traffic in human visitors – if a reader likes an article he may well click through to the site from which the article came to read more. The system is more than just a basic content swap though.
Every article is held in a database and paired up with matching content. The swaps are never between closely related sites – never from the same IP address as your site and always from a closely matchng category. A large part of the effectiveness of the Traffic Kahuna Article Exchange is the well matched content. Of course the more people and sites involved the better. With more users the network becomes more diffuse and harder to identify and exchanges happen more and more rapidly.

I will be bringing more infomation about Traffic Kahuna over the coming weeks.
